How Do I register for a Choice Program?

Parents must register at their neighbourhood English catchment school before applying for Choice Program(s). Then, beginning in January  you can apply to attend a choice program through our online application process. The application period closes on first week of February.

• Some of the choice programs we provide include French Immersion, Mandarin Bilingual, Indigenous Focus, Montessori, International Baccalaureate, or Fine Arts. You can explore all of these choice programs on our Student Learning website.

Early French Immersion: K-7

The Vancouver School Board Early French Immersion program accepts 5 and 6 year olds at the beginning of their formal schooling.  Please note that the BC curriculum is instructed in French from Kindergarten to end of Grade 3.

Early Mandarin Bilingual

Parents of Kindergarten-aged students who are interested in the new Early Bilingual Mandarin program, please register with your neighbourhood English catchment school as the first step beginning on November 1.  Please note that any child who has little or no prior knowledge of Mandarin, who is a resident of Vancouver, and who is entering Kindergarten or Grade One is eligible for the Early Mandarin Bilingual program.

Montessori

All students who live in Vancouver are eligible to attend the Montessori Alternative Programs at Tyee, Renfrew and Maple Grove Elementary Schools.
